The varsity tennis team competed against Crandall on Tuesday, September 17. Finally being in the same district this year, Kaufman and Crandall have always competed against each other traditionally in years past. Kaufman maintained their edge against the Pirates again this year winning 19-0 overall. The Lions jumped on their opponents in doubles and never looked back. The entire team looked strong on the day. Kaufman is currently second place in the district going into their last two matches. The Lion netters will play Terrell on Tuesday, September 24 at home.
Two members of the varsity tennis squad earned the accomplishment of winning their 100th match in their varsity career. Diego Santoyo and Samantha Sipriano now have the distinction of having 100+ varsity wins.
The JV squad followed similar suit in their match against Crandall. The Lions won 19-0 overall as well. The JV is currently first in district play and will have a forfeit this upcoming week against Terrell, who cannot field a JV team. The JV is led by key members such as Rylee Reyes, Joseph Salmeron, Aiden Muse, Andrew Muse, Amalia Garcia, Dannielle Anderson, Lilyann Martin, Stephany Amaya, Sutton Wade, and Angela Llamas.
